Emblem
Orville Murray was born on October 30, 1936 to the late Eddie and Rhoda Murray in Chicago, Illinois. He was one of twelve children born to that union.

Orville attended Dunbar High School on East 42nd Street, upon his graduation from High School Rev. Murray enlisted into the United States Army.

Rev. Murray accepted Christ at an early age and joined The First Church Of Deliverance over 60 years ago under the Late Founder Clarence H. Cobbs. He was a faithful member of the Senior adult Choir. After being called into the ministry and studying he was ordained in 1973 by Rev. Clarence Cobbs and Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of Christ. After the transition of Rev. Harold Porter in December 1994 the Triarchy was established. Which consisted of Rev. Otto T. Houston, Rev. Mary McCoy and Rev. Orville. Murray. Once Bishop Houston became pastor the Triarchy was dissolved. Rev. Murray has served under every Pastor of First Church until the present Rev. James R. Bryson Jr. Rev Bryson appointed him as Senior Minister where he served dutifully until his untimely passing.

Rev. Murray would faithfully visit the sick and shut in and serve them Communion for over 45 years. During this time he and Clarence Dumas would drive and offer a word of comfort to the bereaved families that's called upon them. Whether it be day or night you could find Rev Murray attending to the families that needed him.

Rev Murray worked faithfully for the Chicago Transit Authority for over 30 years as a bus operator.

Rev. Murray’s special friend John Moore preceded him in death. His siblings Michael Murray, Melvin Brown, Elain Murray, Shirley Daniels, and Ruth White preceded him in death as well.
